YouTube introduces a new virtual reality format called YouTube VR180
Today YouTube has announced a new video feature which gives a better experience called as YouTube VR180. The all new VR180 technology is created for YouTube in collaboration with the Google’s Daydream developing team. The VR180 video file formats will be compatible with Google’s Cardboard, Daydream, PSVR and other VR headsets out there in the market.
However, YouTube has already introduced various VR supported features such as stereoscopic 3D, supported VR and 360-degree content in which user experience a better VR content. But making VR videos is a difficult task for regular YouTube user because it requires an additional VR supported camera or 360-degree camera. YouTube believes that the all new VR180 feature will make easier for users to make their 180-degree videos experience them on their VR headsets.
YouTube VR180 highlights
YouTube didn’t officially confirmed complete details about the VR180 feature and some of the experts doubting that whether new YouTube VR180 video format locket to 1880-degrees or not, but by looking at the post which was announced by YouTube today which states that ” VR 180 video focuses on what’s in front of you” which is quite confusing to understand.
If you’re excited to watch all new VR180 videos, there are already some of the YouTuber’s has already published a Whole playlist of VR180 videos. Unfortunately who can’t experience the all new VR180 videos without the compatible VR headsets, but on a desktop, you will notice that the videos are having one format for multiple configurations.
VR180 supported camera’s
However there is no official news about which cameras are work with VR180 video formats, but the Google blog posts say that Lenovo, LG, and Yi companies are working on cameras which support VR180 technology. There’s also a VR180 certification which will be provided for enterprises that ensure a required product specifications and standards to work better with the VR180 video formats. Yi Company has already started collecting mail campaign on their website if you’re interested grab Yi 180 camera complete the sign-up process for more updates.
YouTube Spaces Program
If you’re a YouTube creator own a channel with more than 10,000 subscribers, then you’re eligible to apply loan to grab VR180 camera from YouTube Spaces program. Here are the conditions before you apply for YouTube Spaces program to get loan to buy VR180 camera
- Channel should have more than 10,000 subscribers
- For a non-profit organization subscribers limit is 1000.
- Channels should not have record of free copyright/ToS strikes
- The channel should not be a part of 3rd party brands.
- The above conditions may look complicated, but once you enter into YouTube Spaces program, you have access to more free resources.
