DoT launched Tarang Sanchar online portal to check Mobile tower radiation

On Tuesday the Department of Telecom launched an online portal Tarang Sanchar through which a user can track the radiation levels emitting from the nearby mobile towers.Mobile phone radiation is the severe problem for human’s health, especially those who stay near to the mobile towers will experience a higher radiation in night times.

Most of the mobile phone towers are installed in urban dwellers, and those live in the major dense areas. However, people don’t have proper knowledge about the mobile radiation, so most of the house owners are giving permissions for mobile tower erection on top of their buildings.

DoT (Department of Telecom) named the portal as “Tarang Sanchar” which clears the doubts about the amount of radiation levels and the rate of emission from the mobile towers. Manoj Sinha Telecom minister said that “the ambition behind the Tarang Sanchar project is to provide accurate results to the users about the nearby radiation levels and users also submit the complaints against the high radiation emitting towers to the Government.

How Tarang Sanchar project started?

Actually, the Tarang Sanchar project was initiated because of the complaint filed by a 42 old year cancer patient who claimed that the mobile towers near his house has negatively affected his health and caused cancer. The Old man lives in Gwalior, and he is fighting for the issue in the court from the last few years. Finally, the Supreme Court ordered demolition of mobile towers near by the Old man’s house.

With the Supreme Court step against the deactivation of high emitting mobile towers, the Department of Telecom developed a web portal so that every Indian can check the radiation levels emitted by the nearby mobile towers. The Minister also added that “although this is not a final order and this needs to be seen in the health perceptive. Let the final order come, and the researches made by the WHO and various institution studies claims that there will be no health effects to humans from the electromagnetic radiation”.

Does mobile tower radiation affect your Health?

From the past few years, various health organizations and universities researched about the effects of mobile radiation, but none has positive reports to prove this. Although the IJERPH (International journal of environmental research and public health) recently found that electromagnetic radiation from the mobile towers causing diabetes and some of the new studies also examined on the hemoglobin levels of the various person and found that mobile radiation has some effect on human hemoglobin characteristics.

How to check Radiation level of nearby tower

  • Open the give web portal: Tarang Sanchar
  • You can select either ‘My location’ which automatically finds your location by accessing your GPS or user can manually select the location from the menu.
  • After selecting the location, you should go through the registration process.
    Once the registration process completes, you will get log-in credentials.
  • Sign in with the credentials, find the location you want and select the mobile tower nearby you which shows the complete reports about that tower.
