Synology RT2600ac Smart router priced $330
Synology released its second model Synology RT2600ac Smart router priced $330. The company entered into network router market last year with the RT1900ac device. With more upgrades and latest features, Synology came up with Synology RT2600ac smart router which offers multiple network ports and buttons.
Synology RT2600ac smart router highlights
Synology RT2600ac Hardware and Performance:
Synology RT2600ac supports Mu-Mimo and the latest Wi-Fi 802.11 ac wave2 standards which deliver 800mbps internet speed on 2.4GHz and 1733Mbps speeds on 5GHz refresh rates. They even reach up to 2Gbps speeds with a combination of Bandwidth and Dual WAN networks.
It has 1.7GHz Dual core CPU processor with Powerful Wi-Fi that has Quad-stream and Dual band features.
With Synology Router Manager software, the user can keep things simplified with the simple user interface. The user can easily monitor and adjust their network on Desktop or, even on mobile devices.
Synology RT2600ac has Smart WAN features through which we can get 2Gbps speeds with a combination of Dual WAN and Bandwidth connections. If any of the network connections goes offline due to cable or ISP problems, network traffic will be provided by other connections.
It has Load Balancing techniques which can be used if there is a failure in any of the connections. With this feature, users will not get any disturbance from the router whenever any fault occurs.
Synology also included Policy route traffic system, in which the data transfer is only possible between selected destinations and source addresses. The user has a choice to select specific incoming and outgoing network addresses.
With the Smart Connect feature, devices will be linked to the most appropriate network bands automatically. As we know Synology RT2600ac supports both 2.4GHz and 5GHz network bandwidths, whenever devices need to be connected to a network, the smart connect feature will check for device high priority network bandwidth and automatically connects to the better bandwidth.
Content filtering & monitoring
Synology RT2600ac has an application layer 7 support, which shows the quality of bandwidth and data consumed by the individual applications and devices. We can also restrict the amount of bandwidth for particular applications without affecting the rest of applications. We can generate every individual service and device traffic reports in application layer 7.
Web Filtering and Parental Controls
When it comes to web filtering and parental controls, we used to block websites by URL filtering for every individual. But instead filtering every time, Synology RT2600ac uses DNS Lookup feature to prevent the thousands of vulnerable sites with the help of Google SafeSearch integration. And the best part, it automatically updates its database with regular Google updates.
Synology RT2600ac uses intrusion detection system, which analyzes the bandwidth traffic and network threats. With all these logs, it performs fine tuning of firewall rules with minimal performance impact. Based on user customizable rules, intrusion prevention system blocks suspicious traffic malwares.
Security Advisor & QualysGuard:
It comes with Security Advisor feature, which regularly checks and monitors your system files for security issues, and it automatically performs recommended actions.
These recommended operations are being performed using the industry leading QualysGuard platform which not only detects the security issues it also enhances the security across all connected devices.
