Google Maps Will Halt the Use of New iOS Feature on Feedback
Google is one the major tech giants and has very few time failed with their new insight into technology. This hasn’t been the case with their new iOS feature of calorie counter; Google Maps has been showing a selected number of users how many calories they would burn if they walked a certain route instead of driving there.
Promotion of health
Google Maps’ experimental iOS feature has been here for few weeks to help the users be more cautious of their health. They did this by adding a calorie estimator to their app; this has led some strong feedback from users disliking the new feature. Google has been accused of being insensitive towards the people suffering from eating disorders. Calorie tracking is not a healthy way to remind someone of their eating habits in a Maps app.
The new experimental feature in iOS by Google Maps has been immediately removed post its negative feedback from the public. The calorie counter would consider pretty nominal calculation by considering that an average person would burn about 90 calories in walking a mile. This is not true for everyone so it has led to some mass agitation against the feature; the app also showcased what amount of food would provide those calories that you burn. They would put in form of mini cupcakes each providing up to 110 calories.
The new experiment hasn’t caused a major concern yet as the feature was still in experimental stages. Google Maps has permanently disposed any further development ideas into the feature so; it is safe to say it will never return.
